KG has caught a lot of negativity in recent years following his departure from Minnesota regarding his alleged “bullying” on the court, especially since winning a ‘chip. This is one of my favorite interviews EVER. Real. Raw. Gritty. KG gets much respect for this one. The passion, the drive, the desire, the love. You know the saying, “You can’t teach heart.”
When dunking the ball isn’t that impressive, you gotta step your game up. Blake Griffin has nothin’ on this kid.
This is the precise moment that we fell in love with Shaquille O’Neal. Being a kid and watching “Inside Stuff” (which became my very own Saturday morning tradition) with Ahmad Rashad was a regular thing before hitting up the park right after to go imitate the things that I just saw on TV. Then entered this one dude outta nowhere from some college I had never heard of. (“What city is LSU in anyway?” I thought) This guy was a giant and made the host look tiny. Then, the above video happened, and from that exact moment, he became my favorite player. I had never seen anything like that ever in my pre-teen brain. This dude, whose name I had never heard (or could spell) almost took Ahmad Rashad into the Abyss when he went to the basket and almost broke his own neck in the process. It was the thing that legends were made of. DVR didn’t exist back then so there was no rewinding, so I had to live haunted by that memory over and over again until I could see it again. I figured I would name my first son Shaquille after that dunk. That dunk was so filthy and nasty it begot offspring. Now, I know where LSU is. Now I know who Shaquille O’Neal is and how to spell it. Thank God for YouTube…
I’m willing to go out on a limb and say that you have NEVER seen Shaquille O’Neal quite like this. Moral of this story? DO NOT lose to Jimmy Fallon in NBA JAM.

Rajon Rondo teaches the Golden State Warriors a thing or two about fundamentals. He chews up the GSW defense by penetrating to the basket, putting a spin move on a helpless defender jumps in the air and whips a behind-the-back, on the numbers pass to a MOVING Ray Allen for a corner three.
Favorite thing about this video? “…any kid out there who thinks it’s all about scoring and dunking the basketball and shooting threes…”
Listen as Nike breaks down the science of getting better. It’s more than just runnin’ and lifting weights. It’s the whole package, mental, emotional, psychological, and physical. We wish more athletes, organizations and trainers would release more insider stuff like this. It makes players better and in turn, it’s better for the game. Here is Part 1 of the “Nike Basketball Pro Training Camp”.
Short Hiatus
Ok, So we have been on a hiatus for a minute now (what, the NBA can do it but we can’t? LOL) but we are back into the swing of things. More posts, videos and music to come. The NBA has been doing their thang as far as drawing fans back in and the season storylines are great right now. Topics like: “Are the Clippers really going to take over and will “Lob City” be the new “Showtime” in L.A.? (Not if Kobe has anything to say about it…4 40+ point games in a row scream he ain’t havin’ it). How will the Hornets do post CP3? Will the Bulls go further this year and will D-Rose repeat as MVP? Will Miami be the team everyone thought they would be (and will LeBron be the player everyone thought he was)?” And many other questions. It’s still a good time to be a fan with all these storylines.
Great Timing

It’s just like us to begin a blog and then a lockout happens! But the love doesn’t stop. We gonna keep it movin! It’s amazing how two groups of people can’t decide on how to split several billion dollars (yeah, that’s spelled with a “B” and not an “M”). It must be a nightmare to work your butt off; early morning practices, the blood, sweat and tears, the suicides, the weight training, workin on your skills while everybody else is partying, to dream night & day about achieving your dream of makin’ it to The League, and then you get drafted 1st in the draft, just to find out there is a possibility that the NBA might go on vacay the moment you step in. This past season gave some of the best story lines we’ve seen in a while. Of course, the major theme was the Miami Heat (and subsequently how MIA went M.I.A. in the finals), how would LeBron be received his 1st trip back to Cleveland?, and Derrick Rose giving premonitions of himself being the MVP, The Knicks trying to return to contention by locking down Stoudemire and Carmelo. And at the end, one of the most dominant ever, Shaq, called it a career (and so did Yao). So there’s gonna be hype next season as well. “Will OKC be a legit contender?”, “Is Kobe officially done?” “Will Derrick Williams be a beast on the next level?” “Does Boston have 1 last run left in ‘em?”, and the list goes on. We all know that the Miami hype machine isn’t gonna turn off quietly, and Lebron may have left people with more questions than answers. But stay tuned. Just because the ball stops bouncing on the TV, doesn’t mean that it will stop at the park, in dorm rooms across the nation, in the alleys, or in the sweat boxes without A/C we call gyms. The game will go on, with or without the multi-million dollar players. Time to boot up ESPN classic for your next fix, cause we ain’t goin’ nowhere. Get it together NBA…get it together.
Opening Tip…

We Do This For The LOVE. The love of the game. We play whether we would make $35 million a year or $35k. The number of zeroes really don’t even matter. For the wind in your hair when you’re runnin’ the fast break (even if you rock a baldie). Because you love the squeak of sneaks on the hardwood or the beat of feet on the concrete. The swish of the net, or the clink of the chain. For the spectators at the chainlink fence, or the haters behind the bench. For the feel of the sweat. Because you wanna be the best on your block before you’re the best in the world. Major league or rec league, it’s for the love. For those who love defense even more than they love offense, who take lockin’ down their man seriously and prefer man-to-man when it’s crunch time rather than hiding behind zones. For those who want to full-court press the entire game until they have nothing left. It’s for the love that we play; in front of crowds or in an empty gym. It’s for the love that we play at the park just when there’s enough sunlight to shed its rays on the rims. Handlin the rock while just goin’ to the corner store. Doin’ drills while everybody else is still sleepin’. Because you love it. It’s the greatest game on earth. Shootin’ jumpers in the rain with the clock windin’ down toward zero. Fiberglass goals or wastepaper baskets. We stay shootin’. Even workin’ on our stroke while sittin’ at our chair in our cubicle, dreamin’ we was on a court rather than livin’ check-to-check. We do this for the love. For everyone who has ever worn their soles down to holes while goin’ to the hole on asphalt. For those who go to the basket and expect contact (and love it) and still expect to make it. For those who love to pass first. To those who appreciate style but don’t sleep on the fundamentals and who are man enough to give props when they see someone else do their thing ‘cause they’re nice wit’ it. For those who run suicides thinkin’ that they’re literally gonna die… and then do 1 more. For the heads that got some of their favorite games on VHS. For every kid who ever hung a poster on his bedroom wall of his favorite player or rocked their jersey. For the one who still has the ticket stubs from the first game he ever went to. For those who made a hoop out of anything they could get their hands on. A milkcrate. A wire hanger. A trash can. Your friend who made his arms into a circle. We see you. It’s the love. It’s the fire. You just gotta play. Even when you ache from hard fouls the previous day and your body says stay, you go ball anyway. This site is for you. For the dudes that go hard in scrimmages and play games like it’s their last time. For those who respect the game and are students of it. For those committed to proving their coach wrong for startin’ another cat ahead of them, and put in work allllll summer long to prove it, this is for you. This isn’t for the casual fan. So stay tuned. It’s only appropriate that we kick things off in June. When everything really matters and the stakes is high. Not for profit. Not for fame. But for the love of the game…
